Brooke C. Rosen

Brooke C. Rosen

Roanoke, Virginia

Brooke Rosen’s practice focuses on addressing the complex legal needs of families.  She regularly advises clients who are contemplating separation and divorce or struggling with custody and visitation issues.  She also counsels clients on spousal support, division of assets and liabilities, and post-divorce modifications.  As a mother of two young children, and a qualified Guardian ad litem for children, Brooke strives to take a fair, practical and child-centered approach to guiding families through domestic matters.

Given Brooke’s background as a business and corporate attorney, she understands the complexities of valuing closely held family businesses and other intangibles associated with owning and operating a private business.   She is familiar with complex business structures and strategies for hiding wealth that may be subject to equitable distribution in a divorce or dispersing income in the context of spousal support/alimony.  Brooke’s experience in counseling businesses in their retirement and non-qualified employee benefits gives her an inside perspective in advising divorce clients relative to their rights in a spouse’s retirement benefits.   Brooke also has extensive experience in crafting Pre-Nuptial Agreements for business owners.

Brooke understands that family law clients often experience tremendous anxiety and uncertainty about the legal process.  She believes very strongly in taking the time in getting to know her clients and understanding their goals as well as educating them as to what they can expect.  Her clients value her because she mitigates the stress through her responsiveness, efficiency and pragmatic approach to solving problems.  Her guidance extends beyond the immediate controversy to helping clients understand the implications a divorce or legal separation can have on estate planning, credit scores, family business and social security rights.

In addition to divorce-related matters, Brooke also counsels individuals on their estate planning and closely-held business needs.  She is experienced in establishing new companies, adding business partners and drafting shareholder and buy-sell arrangements among business owners.

Brooke was recently recognized as the Roanoke Bar Association’s 2015 Young Lawyer of the Year.  She is committed to her community and currently serves as a member of the YMCA Roanoke Valley Association Board of Directions and the Roanoke Regional Commerce Board of Directors.
